Today at the US Open of Surfing, currently illuminating Huntington Beach in California, Mitch Crews paddled into a left, punched down the line and threw this backside rotation. It was a single manoeuvre wave, 7.60 points, and the shining feather in a cap of 15.27 points, certainly enough to swing in front of South African Beyrick De Vries. In the round of 16, up next, Mitch shall take on Brazilian Alejo Muniz, and perhaps he shall do another air like this, because that’s what the judges like, and that’s what the people like.
