Mikey Wright Capitalises On A Paltry Shoulder, Manly
Champagne style at a beer venue.
Mikey Wright sure knows how to make a grand reappearance! After getting benched for a decent chunk of the last eight months due to an ankle injury, the youngest Wright has taken his hand off the clutch and come screeching back to the competitive scene. His Australian Open of Surfing campaign is off to a flying start after posting two near-excellent scores in the 7.50 range, linking together a chain of exciting forehand hacks despite the meagre conditions that plagued his round three matchup.
“Before the heat a lot of right-handers came through, but it dried up a lot as soon as the heat started,” Mikey said in a post-heat interview for the webcast. “I just stuck to my guns and thankfully something came through in the final few minutes. I’m really focused on taking it heat-by-heat and hopefully I can get as far as I can.”
