Nat Young is an accommodating man. Staying at his house in Santa Cruz during the O’Neill Cold Water Classic was Mitch Crews, Balaram Stack, Michael Dunphy, Sage Erickson and Jesse Mendez. Nat lost in the quarters of the event, but still hosted the after-party. In attendance was Dusty Payne, Granger Larsen, Kai Barger, Shrimpy, Jesse Mendez, Mike Dunphy and a few others. “Of course, where there’s pro surfers, there’s also groupies,” said James ‘Jimmicane’ Wilson. “A number of attractive girls came to hang out with Miguel and Nat, two of Santa Cruz’s most high profile people.” After the party, everyone went to a Mickey Avalon concert.
