Mark Healey and pals, Podium Raceway, Hawaii
“What the hell do you do if you are Mark Healey and there’s no movie stunt work to do, no 100-foot waves, no great whites to ride and you’ve already speared enough fish this week to have a month’s worth of dinner in the freezer?” asks photog Ryan Miller. And it’s a good question. “I guess the guy goes riding electric go-carts. A couple of the guys on the North Shore were ready to get out and do some non-surf activities, having already played enough golf and tennis to make themselves crazy. They rallied and hit up an electric go cart track halfway to the west side.” So, how’d the dudes fare on the track? In their second race, Mark got fourth, but Sunny Garcia was 0.3 seconds off scooping the course record. “Guy was working the track very well,” says Ryan.
