Kerby Brown and the best kind of self portrait, WA
On a fine day in the west of Australia, at an undisclosed location, we find Kerby Brown stuffed inside a big green cave, ripping a selfie. But, how did we get here? “I was actually on a road trip-slash-holiday with my girl and my grom, so I wasn’t really expecting waves, but I had my ski and housing with me just in case,” says Kerby. “I called a good friend who was in the area who was actually injured at the time with a black eye and a swollen head from a nasty wipeout the previous day, but he was kind enough to whip me into a bunch of barrels. There were some solid ones around eight to 10 feet… the sets were actually throwing too high and wide to fit in the frame. This was a smaller one from the day. There was no wind, which is always nice when you’re holding the camera. A short and sweet session followed by beers with a good mate.”
