Kelly Slater, spiritualised at Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast
Those who are currently on the Gold Coast will know that this is not what Snapper Rocks looks like this minute, hence why today is another Lay Day for the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast. But don’t worry, anyone within a 50km radius of Coolangatta will tell you that Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are the days. This is from a few days ago when Snapper still had a little poke. It’s Kelly Slater, being spiritually encouraged by a local indigenous character named Russ, who you’ve most certainly seen wishing Kelly good luck on the way out for his heats, and who Kelly called onto the podium last year after he won, and asked Russ to play for the crowd. Something that isn’t unlikely to repeat itself this year.
