Julian Wilson, Siam Park, Canary Islands

To give you a scope into what’s really goin’ on here… This is Julian Wilson, driving off the bottom of a machine-generated wave in Tenerife. Pointing lenses at him are Iker Elorriaeta and Kai Neville, the latter of which later climbed up on that crane you can see, to get a bird’s eye view of the action and film what’ll become a part of his new film, Lost Atlas. Also at the pool was Sydney fashion photographer Richie Freeman as well as surfers Bruce Irons, Kolohe Andino, Evan Geiselman and Adam Melling. Two hours later, after sunset, when Kai Neville had climbed up on that there crane, a giant white screen was dropped behind the whole arena. It was then that surfing’s first studio shoot went down, documenting grabs and aerial variations via hard-edged silhouettes. The shots from the studio shoot will appear in the coming Stab Big Book.
