Julian Wilson, altitude sick at Hossegor, France

Julian Wilson has been trying this move a lot lately. It’s an alley oop, with a heelside grab. You’ve seen Josh Kerr and perhaps various others do them, but no one tries them as large as Jules. Sure, this ain’t a land, but we applaud ambition and innovation, and this moment is dripping in both. The French beachies (like La Graviere), in their unpredictability, can offer the perfect canvas for hucks like this one. So, too, can Portugal, where the tour (Jules included) now heads. Hossegor will be a tough act to follow, but the title race has never been better. Expect to see Jules start sticking these real soon. And, perhaps even in competition. Ain’t that something to think about!
