Jason Harris, North LA County, US

Up there in North County LA, Jason Harris found some fun amongst the flash and trash. “There’s a lot going on with that place,” says photog Michael Lallande, who shot this. “You kinda have everything from guys checking the waves in Ferrari’s to Pamela Anderson lookalikes trolling around. Then there’s a little crew of salty dogs who hold down the fort in the midst of all the Hollywood chaos. That streetlight in the background is Sunset Blvd. So, the Hollywood folk kinda filter down from there, which makes for quite a universal crowd. This wave doesn’t break too often and, when it does, there are a few other spots just north of here that attract more of the hype. We got lucky with a negative low tide during this session (which is best) and after tromping around looking for waves at some of those northern spots, we aborted mission and ended up scoring these little gems with a lot less people. The wave has a pretty good little ramp at the end of it just before the rocks.” And that ain’t all that this spot has going on. Surfing here, y’can totally feel like a celeb! “Another classic little side note,” continues Michael. “In true LA fashion, you can valet your car there at the restaurant.”
