You’re probs asking yourself how Jesse Mendes got himself into this situation. After struggling in his first round heat at the Telstra Drug Aware Pro, Margaret River, Jesse was knocked outta the competition. Jesse, a red-blooded Brazilian goofyfooter, didn’t bail from Margs straight away, opting rather to stick around and enjoy the unseasonably warm waves of WA. During one of those freesurfs, he took to the lip and the wind got under his board (it blows hard out there in the west). A young gal, who a select few may be able to identify, was duckdiving under him. Pure coincidence. But ain’t that how most the best photos happen? Either way, the humour of an exquisite kicker/standing in the lip combo won’t be lost on anyone, we’re guessing.
