Ian Crane, blow-tail beneath the pier, San Clemente
The wind is up, the waves are down, and you’re a young French photographer new in town. You rock up to your local water park with a portrait lens and hope for the best. Enter lensman Gregoire Gyselinck. “I was actually just going to cruise around the pier with my camera to do some portraits,” says our lensman Gregoire. “I had barely arrived and started looking for a face to shoot, and then I noticed Ian Crane. I was frustrated because I only had my 50mm, but I guess it forced me to look at the scene differently. After a few waves, he made this blow-tail in front of the pier. I like the way it’s composed, but I reckon the fluro green board really makes the shot.”
