Gabs Medina, post-Lowers victory grill, CA

Gabs Medina won the Nike Lowers Pro this morning. He steamed through every heat on his way to the final and was looking very much like a winner for the entirety of the event. He won MVP (most valued-player) with ease through the contest, too. Gabs beat Glen Hall in the final with frequent lip-belts and pocket-wraps, opting for a surprisingly-low amount of aerial sizzle (comparatively to his performance during the rest of the event). He did, of course, settle an air-revs on each of his scoring rides (a 7.17 and 8.50) though. So, with $40k in his pocket and a golden spike trophy, Gabs now heads to Rio for the Billabong Pro. A WT event in his homeland of Brazil, coming off a victory? That’s a scary thought.
