Four “Feels Like Freedom” Submissions We Had To Share
Here’s how to enter the competition and win Jordy Smith’s Stab in the Dark board and a framed shot at your local surf shop!
Oh, how our hearts melt at a lineup shot!
They transport you from the pit of cellular despair into lustful bliss–if only just for a short thumb scroll. They make you curse your local and long for cobalt blue horizons, tropical water and sharing barrels with friends. If a picture’s worth a thousand words, then a good lineup shot is, at the very least, worth a hefty flex on your credit account, a packed coffin and a surf trip.
We’re one week into our #FeelsLikeFreedom photo challenge, an O’Neill x Stab joint, and the submissions are pouring through. So, as a friendly reminder to submit your photos for your chance to win one of Jordy Smith’s Stab in the Dark replicas (Yes, we had 12 blank STID boards shaped that we are dying to give away…because, to be honest, they’re teasing us in the office!), a framed shot at your local surf shop and a Full Frame post on this here site, we’ve plucked three of the most idyllic shots from the hashtags to provide some weekend inspo to get out, shoot and post.
Before you get to the caramel below, let’s revisit the rules:
First things first, this competition is for North America only, apologies to everyone else…
Second, to enter you must use the hashtags #StabFullFrame and #FeelsLikeFreedom along with @Stab and @OneillUSA – if you don’t tag all four, sorry, your submission will be ignored.
Now, prepare for a lot of musts.
The photos must be published within the six-month contest frame (ends in August and we will announce the winner, who we will handpick, in September).
The photos must be shot in North America, they must be taken by you. The photos can be new or old; however, the timelier the better. And finally, they must be unpublished. Don’t send us anything you’ve sold. We want fresh. We want romantic. We want lineup shots so sexy they could be considered grounds for divorce.

Robb Wilson wins the award for the best caption: “Well that one day of winter so far was pretty cool. Too bad it was a month ago haha”.

‘This is Hawaii, although I can’t tell you where,” photog Dave Gomez tells Stab. “That’s my good friend @jonahmane808 paddling out, basically scratching for his life. This day was solid 10-12 with some freak 15 footers. The day of the year for sure!”

“This day was magic,” lensman Shawn Casey tells Stab. “Classic early spring in NJ with a fun combination of swells and a late afternoon front pushing through. The waves were fun all day but it didn’t fully clean up ’til golden hour with the passing front, a ripe situation for intense rainbows. There were some big swells runnin the week prior, and this freshly replenished beach plus dune system took a beating as you can see. But it formed some great but temporary sandbars close to the beach, especially for the peaky combo swells. I was in the water here when an insanely vibrant double rainbow popped off in what seemed like arms reach. It was just me and one other buddy out soaking up the beayewwty. I couldnt help but pick off a few waves within the glory before eventually losing my leashless board to the beach. I had anticipated some interesting lighting so luckily had a camera close-by to expose a few before it was totally gone.”
