Filipe Toledo, backside hurl at Huntington Beach, CA
It might’ve been a no-losers round, but Filipe Toledo won his round of 24 match-up with a 9.80 at the US Open of Surfing, Huntington Beach yesterday. It was the second time in this event that the Brazilian’s made it through a heat in spite of an interference (the first time saw the dispatch of Taj Burrow from the event). The other news? It’s become apparent from Filipe’s heat performances, that it ain’t a matter of if he’ll join the WT behind his fellow countrymen Gabs Medina and Miguel Pupo, but when. And having won the junior event at Huntington last year, kid’s gunning for the big boy title in 2012.
