Dane Reynolds and a fresh stale, CA
Can you ever get enough of Dane Reynolds? Stab says no! This photograph was just taken of the Californian surfing in California. But first, a story about what Dane’s been up to. He recently updated his website, Marine Layer Productions, with a clip called Lifestyle and a collection of photos and words. The words say, among other things, this: “here’s what happened. i hadn’t travelled in a few months because i gave myself an anxiety disorder from staying on the road too long without getting a chance to recuperate. i was feeling fairly recuperated when i got an email from kelly slater regarding hurricane leslie “if there’s ever been a storm to go to the east coast this is it. slabs, points, reefs etc” i thought this was a good opportunity to get back in the groove and booked a flight. now kelly is notorious for backing out on trips, and this was no different. hurricane leslie stalled out and turned up cold water and only sent a weak windswell. kelly, being much more in tune than we are, sensed this was going to happen and didn’t bother.” The team got skunked. But, them’s the breaks. You don’t always win. Anyhow, back to this photograph. “This was day of the final in Santa Cruz, says photographer Andrew Schoener, who shot this. “Yadin Nicol, Josh Kerr, Dillon Perillo and Dane were out. It ended up being a marathon session. Everyone surfed for over three hours. Everyone seemed pretty stoked to be away from the contest scene and Dane was filming with Mini the whole time. He rode the same board the whole time, too. Dane was doing his usual thing and going crazy, and he landed this particular stalefish. I know he’s been filming a lot since he got back from france for the Ando movie.” Which, for us, can only mean good things. Keep your peepers pasted to MLP for more honey dripping soon.
