For professional surfers, the magnetism of the North Shore during the Hawaiian winter is all too strong. Even those who don’t tend to associate themselves with the scene, or have any competition entries, find it hard to resist. Craig Anderson, pictured here, is one such man. He doesn’t do contests, and will tell you that a deserted island reef is his idea of a good time. He’s spent the better part of the last year filming for his new movie. It’s being made by Marine Layer Productions, in case y’were wondering. But, even Craig rolls into the North Shore at year’s end.
“Dude has been making a signature film all year and has probably been on the road 366 days this year,” says photog Ryan Miller, who shot this image. “He still finds the time to come to the North Shore, press the flesh and make his presence known when the whole surf world is in town. He’s been partying down at Rocky Lefts every afternoon, laying into the variety that place has to offer. Ramps, turns, tubes.” Don’t the odd limb place make it rain?
