Would You Skirt Walk-In-The-Park Tubes For Frictionless Progression?
Art is pain.
Let’s face it: anyone can thread a perfect head-high tube.
Very few can knife that same ledge on a finless board and proceed the belt the lip with style and control.
The new clip above from Mollusk, “A High Point,” features Santa Barbara’s Trevor Gordon, Kauai’s Bryce Baker, and frictionless wizard Ari Brown, riding one of the most confusing boards from Stephanie Gilmore’s Electric Acid Surfboard Test — a finless Rabbit’s Foot designed by Ryan Lovelace and Dan Malloy.
Did Ari forego a few easy tubs for the sake of self-expression? Perhaps. But in the end, art is pain, and progression comes at a cost. Sometimes that cost is reef rash and slashing the shit out of hollow shoulders in rubber booties.
