Woman Almost Drives Car Into A Popular Santa Cruz Lineup
A Vin Diesel-esque approach to the rock jump at Steamer Lane.
A woman drove off a cliff at Lighthouse Field State Park on Thursday after an unknown stranger mistakenly opened the door to her vehicle and spooked her.
According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel:
A woman suffered a minor foot injury Thursday night after driving her car through a metal fence and over the side of a Westside cliff.
The driver, according to police, accidentally accelerated across the grassy field adjacent to the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum and the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse shortly before 9 p.m., Santa Cruz police Lt. Carter Jones said. The woman’s vehicle landed on a lengthy rocky outcrop about 15 feet down the cliff, a site where surfers often jump from into the Steamer Lane lineup, he said.
The vehicle was removed by a tow truck with a crane about two hours later. Strangely, driving off a cliff and only suffering a foot injury seems pretty lucky.
