Watch: Two-Minutes Of Tender Tahitian Loving, Starring Jacob Willcox In The Land Of Broken Skulls
Teahupo’o is having a heater of a year.
Teahupo’o, come the end of the games of the XXXIII Olympiad, will likely usurp the flowers of Hawaii, Indonesia, and even California’s Huntington Beach, to become the most famous wave on the planet.
With a reef like a thousand resting porcupines and water heavy enough to blow the air through the back of your lungs, Teahupo’o is a scolding tigress and, for reasons outlined here, she ain’t nothing to be fooled around with.
As a scion of Australia’s Wild West, Jacob Willcox is well-versed in heavy water and shallow rock-shelves. In the above clip, which was shot in a single session a couple of months back, J-Willy demonstrates that he can stroke it as well as anyone at The End Of The Road.
Unfortunately, in his long-anticipated rookie year on the WCT, Jacob fell victim to the mid-year massacre and was deported from the tour before Kaipo could button down his Hawaiian shirt, slide on his flip-flops, and repeatedly give testimony to the correct pronunciation of Teahupo’o.
Despite falling off tour, Jacob told Stab that he will “pretty much keep doing it until the funds say no.”
If his 2023 SEOTY entry is anything to go by, we reckon the West Aus hellion belongs back on the CT. Watch Jacob in ‘Into Dust’ here.
