The stylish Northern Rivers Quik grom who just signed with Epokhe and Dayse.

Social media followings can be pure vanity metrics.

Reason being: you can have a huge number of followers and still be very much broke. There’s a reason Kook Slams and Kook of the Day started an accessories and seltzer categories. They had nothing to monetise despite their enormous social media followings.

And social media followings don’t pay your rent…

The qualitative dimension of social media following is more interesting to me. Who (anyone interesting?) has decided to tap into your ‘content’ and why?

Kanaiya Webb is a 18-year-old from the Gold Coast who recently signed with Quiksilver, Epokhe and Dayse.

Stace Galbraith has been singing his praises for a while and the fact Brendan Margieson, Dion Agius, Kai Neville, NPJ and many more culturally-relevant surfers and industry figures follow a grom from the Northern Rivers is a fairly strong indication he’s doing something right.

His recent clip remind me of Caity Simmers’ a lil. Lotsa handycam and amusing people-watching sandwiched in between nice surfing with tasteful, quirky music selection.

Check him out.
