This Is What Surfing On Mushrooms Looks Like (Probably)
Stickerless psychedlia with our friend Metal Neck.
“The Earth is essentially one enormous surf movie,” begins the 1950’s radio narrative for Matt Tromberg’s newest clip. While it may only be a playfully grandiose conclusion, drawn in the midst of an induced spiritual ‘awakening,’ the rest of the film follows suit.
The fractal edit features underground San Clemente staple Jonah Carter, a kid from SoCal who was well and truly not on our radar. “He’s not on anybody’s radar,” Matt then tells us. “He just cruises, he’s not trying to get sponsored or anything. He’s just really good at surfing. I feel like every surf town has a gnarly mysto ripper guy, with rad style who just keeps to themselves. Jonah is that guy at Lowers.”
Click above for a psychedelic surf simulation, spanning a wormhole between Tahiti and Trestles — and make sure not to paddle under Jonah if you see him quietly hunting sections at Lowers.
