A bowl cut is what happens when you place a bowl upside-down on your head, and cut all of the hair around it. It is a jarring look that icons such as Rihanna and Miley Cyrus have rocked at various crisis points in their pop celebrity careers. Jack Robinson, before them, sported it as a grom tucking into cathedrals at the box as a wiry 11-year-old whose surfing in big waves caught the attention of a global surf audience.

Since then, young Jack has grown up, gotten married, won CTs (well, a CT) and begun visiting professional hairdressers. But the iconic look he once sported as a youth has never slipped his or surfing’s hope that one day it would make a return.

Following this post captioned, “Seriously thinking about bringing the bowl cut back now, yes or no?”, 697 commented in support of his suggestion.

To add more pressure, Kelly Slater, 11x World Champ then released a poll to gauge the audience’s interest in this dream coming true, where a whopping 86% of respondents voted in favor of the idea. Surely Jack’s fate is now sealed as a bowl-headed contender for the 2022 CT title.

Julia, it’s time to get the scissors out. Snip snip.
