A man in his 30s was flown to Royal Perth Hospital around 10 am after he was injured surfing heavy conditions in Margaret River.

He is currently being treated for spinal injuries and remains in a stable condition.

Just four hours later, however another surfer was reportedly found dead at a nearby break.

According to 7 News:

A man has died at a popular surf break in Margaret River, in WA’s southwest.

Police and emergency services attended the scene at Surfer’s Point in Prevelly around 2pm.

The man in his sixties is understood to have drowned after his leg rope became caught on a reef.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the surfer’s loved ones.
