How Many Technical Airs Can You Stomp In A Day At Waco?
Pat and Tanner Gudauskas show us the value of repetition.
Liquid skatepark.
I believe that term was popularised by Strider on the WSL broadcast. He must’ve said it at least three times at three separate venues. I guess the term gets at when the surf is consistent and predictable, in the same way a skatepark doesn’t change its form day-to-day.
Waco definitely qualifies as a liquid skatepark. Repetitive, predictable ramps that you can surf on a short-loop. According to Aristotle, “It is frequent repetition that produces a natural tendency.” So there you go, you heard it from the top.
Repetition helps transition a skill from the conscious to the subconscious. You can only imagine the ease with which Erin Brooks and King Nicol, who feature in this clip, will be stomping airs in the near future.
Notable moments: Pat’s frontside lien-alleyoop (8:10), and Tanner’s backside indy (8:32).
