“I Don’t Like It Because I Don’t Think It’s Fair.”
Gabriel Medina shares feelings on the Finals Format during interview with The New York Times.
Professional surfing has declared its full time residence in major news outlets.
The social momentum surfing carried into the Olympic Games has been refueled by the upcoming WSL Finals. A recent New York Times piece, which didn’t get past the first sentence without using the word “vibe”, gathered quotes from some of the finalists in anticipation of the event.
Surprisingly, there were actually some chunks of pulp in the typically steril surfer juice poured down the general public’s gullet.
When asked about the finals format, Gabriel Medina said:
“I don’t like it because I don’t think it’s fair. You spend your life, a year-long, and now the last event in September, you’re gonna decide all your year? I don’t know about business. I don’t know how it works. They tried to do something different.”
There have been some mixed feelings on this year’s end game, and with an 11,000 point lead, it’s no wonder Gabriel feels the way he does.
