Caroline Marks Will Not Be On The WSL Flight To Australia
Is this some sort of Florida thing?
Two days ago, Kelly Slater announced he would not be flying on the WSL’s Australian-bound jet due to lingering injuries.
Today, fellow Floridian Caroline Marks announced that she’s tested positive for COVID and will also not be able to board the WSL charter flight, which leaves Los Angeles this evening. The 19-year-old took to Instagram to share the unfortunate news with her followers.
The WSL Press Room also released the following statement:
The World Surf League (WSL) has tested all passengers traveling to Australia on WSL’s charter flight. Caroline Marks tested positive for COVID-19 and is therefore unable to board the flight. All other tests were negative. The necessary contact tracing has been conducted and Marks, as well as any close contacts, are self-quarantining and following all appropriate COVID protocols. WSL will continue to monitor the situation.
Caroline Marks will have to wait for a negative test result before flying to Australia, which could take up to two weeks. Then, she’ll have to quarantine for another two weeks once she arrives. It’s a crapshoot whether or not Caroline will be able to compete at the first event in Newcastle, which starts April 1.
Bit of a bummer, Caroline’s surfing is undeniably entertaining; we wish her a speedy recovery.
