Carissa Moore & The Duke Get A 7-Story Mural Painted On Honolulu Apartment Block
A XXL tribute for an XXL achievement.
Five-time world surf champion and Olympic gold medalist, Carissa Moore, and three-time Olympic gold medallist and the man credited with bringing surfing to the world, Duke Kahanamoku are the stars of an enormous painted mural erected on the side of a Honolulu building.
Painted by Kamea Hadar, the artwork spans seven stories on a building in the heart of Honolulu and has taken several weeks to complete.
Riss’ win elicited much praise from Honolulu City, earning her ‘the keys to the city’ from Mayor Rick Blangiardi, who also proclaimed October 6 as “Carissa Moore Day.”
Now she joins her fellow Hawaiian native and Olympic gold medallist above the corner of King Street and Pensacola street.
