Can A Surfline Cam Solve The Dead Body Mystery At Salt Creek?
Let’s analyze the evidence.
UPDATE (3:05 pm PST): An Orange County Lifeguard has confirmed that the bodies had no gun shot wounds. The current belief (pre tox reports) is that an overdose is to blame for their deaths.
This morning, two bodies — one male, one female — were discovered on the shoreline at Salt Creek, a famous surfing beach in Dana Point, California.
According to MSN News:
The bodies were discovered around 6:50 a.m. when the sheriff’s department received word of two unresponsive adults on the beach.
It’s unknown how the two people died, but authorities said foul play is not suspected. An official cause and manner of death will be determined later by the county’s coroner’s office.
The deaths appear to be an isolated incident, and there is no current threat to the public, the sheriff’s department announced on Twitter.
On the point of foul play, Stab was recently sent a recording of Surfline’s Salt Creek camera from the middle of last night. In it, you can see distinct flashing in the bottom left quadrant of the screen.
Then, this morning, the same Surfline camera showed the bodies in a similar part of the beach being surrounded by the authorities (see below).
And the most interesting part?
Surfline has removed all of the Cam Rewind footage from 7 pm last night til 11 am this morning (there are two Salt Creek cams in total, only the one pointed at this part of the beach was wiped).
Now, let’s state the obvious: those flashes could have been from a camera, or a lighter, or a firearm. It’s impossible to tell from the footage, but the fact that two bodies were found together does raise certain questions.
For instance: what are the odds that two people died in the same place at the same time, if there was truly no foul play involved?
We’ll provide more info when we have it.
