Following A South African Surfer As He Pursues CT Dreams
Adin Masencamp stars in ‘Ascension’.
Adin Masencamp started surfing when he was eight years old.
His parents would take him to the beach almost every weekend, and eventually, surfing became his number one priority. A childhood full of grom comps led Adin to win the WSL Africa Junior Men’s title in 2017 and the WSL Africa QS men’s title in 2018.
Now, Mesancamp has his sights set on the real target, which would be to qualify for the WCT. His new film ‘Ascension’ covers his journey thus far and features some exceptional surfing.
“The film tells the story of the grind being a South African professional surfer trying to qualify for the WSL Championship Tour,” Adin says. “It’s been a crazy journey since I was a young competitive grom, my family gave up so much to get me where I am today, and I really want to dedicate this to them.”
After taking a break from the competitive mindset during covid, Mesancamp is ready to put the jersey back on and snag some heat wins.
