A Parker Coffin Endorsed, 16-Year Old Foamball Bandit
“It’s infectious to see how much time he puts into getting better.”
We get a lot of surf-related clips, photos, stories, and general nonsense in our Stab inboxes.
It’s difficult to gauge from the words in each email what its attachment will hold — a thoughtfully written email might be paired with unwatchable iPhone footage, while an illiterate word vomit might introduce an absolute banger.
It’s a sadistic sort of Christmas morning feeling — except it’s every morning.
The email that 16-year old Jak Ziets sent us was well-worded and thoughtful — he’d even gone through the trouble of licensing the music. To top it off, the little bugger name-dropped Electric Acid Microdoser Parker Coffin.
So, to cross-examine his boldness, I shot Parker a call.
“We’re proud of Jak,” Parker told me. “My brother and I are happy that there are a few kids from our area who are working really hard — traveling and doing everything they can to get better as a surfer. Jak wants it pretty bad, and it’s infectious to see how much time he puts in to trying to get better.
It can be pretty daunting trying to pursue a surf career in 2023, and he’s not scared to come and ask my brother and I for advice. We definitely try our best to encourage those kids and pass on what we’ve learned. We’re stoked to see him chasing his dreams.”
The footage from Jak’s time in Panama bodes well for his progression and, more importantly, made us want to close our emails and go get barreled for a week.
Thanks Jak.
