A $1,000 Prize For A Surfing Contest That Anyone Can Enter?
You just gotta be in the right place at the right time.
If you haven’t heard of SunBum’s Bumrush Contest, you’ve got an entire new YouTube category to binge.
Essentially, it’s the most simple surfing contest format of all time.
SunBum brings a few of their surfers, a few umbrellas, and a thousand bucks to a random beach at a random time. They then sit down for the duration of a gen-pop surf session, and subjectively award the money — in the form of a gloriously large cheque — to whichever unsuspecting surfer deserves it the most.
No criteria, no Apple Watches, and definitely no priority (see 1:41). Imagine having a fun session, and then arriving on the beach only to be subjected to a full on champagne shower ceremony…
Gotta feel pretty damn good.
The latest episode is with Kobe Hughes, Victoria Vergara, and Adrien Toyon at La Gravière — it also features a cameo from Mikey January.
