Dane Reynolds, fin-shuck at Duranbah, Gold Coast
Dane Reynolds made us whoop and jump, and then he was gone. His brief but intense foray back into competitive surfing, at the Quik Pro, Gold Coast, was ended by Taj Burrow in round two. So, Dane’s in Oz, he’s on the Gold Coast and he ain’t in the event anymore. What d’you do? Apart from doing the theme park thing (Wet n’ Wild yesterday) and a spot of boogieboarding, Dane’s been shucking his fins over D’bah (when there’s been swell – which, right now, there ain’t.) On one of those occasions, photog Matty O’Brien was posted up on the sand. “I was on the Gold Coast for two days, nailed some solid shit and came home,” he says. “There were just way too many guys shooting to get one-on-one with the big boys. I’d say 100 guys probably have this shot of Dane (laughs).”
