Pussy Surfer Gives Back To His Community
Surf Cat Mav sinks his claws into mental health awareness.
It is I. Protector of elsewhere, and curator of all things surfing animals.
This week’s furry surf friend comes to us in the form of Surf Cat Mav. With 46k Instagram followers and a feature on a Netflix show, this 2-year-old cat named Maverick thinks he’s better than me.
That thought would be correct, given his impeccable surf stance the fact that he shreds with purpose.
“We’re trying to open up a dialogue and let Maverick be on the forefront and also allow people to realize that having an emotional support animal or therapy animal enhances your life and adds so much,” his owner Nick Liam told KGTV. “It’s really important because a lot of organizations focus on suicide and depression, and we’re trying to work with stomping out the stigma.”
Liam says he’s “trying to smash the perception cats have to stay home.”
I’m adding Mav to the list of my favorite surfers, right next to Duck and Goatee.
Also not even sure if Mav is an Ocelot but going to leave this here regardless:
