Coco Ho’s Secret Love Affair With Longboarding
“I couldn’t have my own because I would ride it too much.”
There wasn’t a whole lot of longboarding in the Ho household growing up.
Coco spent her time pushing a thruster through heat wins, and Mason worshipped the thrashing meditations of the old …Lost crew. The laxness of logging couldn’t temp the family away from their life of carves, barrels, and generally finding ways to make surfboards go fast.
However, during our recent Electric Acid extravaganza in Mexico, Coco was gifted the opportunity to cross-step about an alluring Thomas Bexon Hariot model. She opened up about her secret passion for longboarding and how, as a kid, she’d borrow a friend’s board because her father thought owning a log would tarnish her form on a shortboard.
While Pops didn’t want Coco to have her own log back then, he understood the benefits of reading waves at a different pace. So, around 5 years ago, Mike Ho caved and taught Coco proper nose riding technique.
Watch Coco apply those lessons and casually navigate the 9’3 vessel here.
And, tell us, are there any other closeted longboarders out there?
