Josh Burke Is A Wax Brand’s Greatest Advertisement

Josh Burke has sticky feet. I don’t know what wax brand he uses, but this clip seems like the perfect advertisement. Maybe it’s not wax at all. Could it be clear straps that don’t show up on camera? Or perhaps a thin strip of velcro glued to the top of his board and the bottom of his feet? Is Gorilla Glue about to cop another lawsuit?

It’s probably just Burke’s wave knowledge at the Soup Bowl, combined with his familiarity with Barbados’ winds, combined with a deeply adored surfboard*.

As for the music….. YUP. Future Islands is great; they’re weird but foot-tappin’ catchy. Their music makes me want to drink handles of rum and sail across the world—like a modern-day alternative sea pirate. Keep an eye on your local dock; I’ll be there soon.

*Josh on his board: it’s a 2-year-old 58.5 x 18.7 x 2.36 Sharpeye HT2.5 that I used in many QS events, so over time it got beat up pretty bad (two fin boxes, plenty dings & discoloration). I restored it, spray painted it and the board rode better somehow.
