Parents In Wales Catch Flak For Surfing While Kids Are In School
COVID regulations stir surf related controversy in Pembrokeshire.
Some parents in Pembrokeshire, Wales, have taken advantage of COVID regulations to catch a few waves. Surfing while the kids are at school normally isn’t an issue, but today it has created quite the dilemma.
According to Wales Online:
Current restrictions state that children of critical and key workers, including doctors, nurses, farmers, and bus drivers, should only be attending school if their parents can’t look after them at home.
Some parents, however, are using the school as a daycare. They’re dropping the kids off at school during an off-day and going surfing instead.
The Pembrokeshire council stated, “We would like to remind all parents that schools have limited capacity and are not a crèche, so please consider very carefully whether it is essential that your child receives a place.”
Bit of an awkward situation. Maybe each parent should get one free surf pass a week?
