First & Last: How Many Boards Does Yago Dora Bring on a 7-Day Surf Trip?
The answer might surprise you.
We recently caught up with Yago Dora for our latest installment of ‘First & Last,’ presented by Monster Energy.
From inside the walls of his gorgeous Brazilian home, Yago brings us through some of the things nearest and dearest to his heart (like his surfboards, his video games, and his family, who live right next door). Yago also gave us an idea of how many boards a pro of his stature goes through on a performance-based surf trip. The answer is outrageously high, by most people’s standards.
Not sure if it’s because his boards are glassed with rice paper or he’s stomping airs with the force of Thor’s hammer, but here’s what we learned.
An eight-day trip to the Maldives calls for at least 7 boards.
Better safe than sorry. Especially with an air game like Yago’s.
Work Hard, Pay Hard.
Yago makes money, and Yago spends money. Some purchases are investments, and some are not. The F1 driving simulator sits somewhere in between, depending on whether his racing career takes off.
Yago is on a stand-up paddle-boarder’s most wanted list.
Just because you can see every set from a mile away, take off farther out, and poach waves, doesn’t mean you should. Yago Dora recently called out a SUP’er for getting greedy. Tell ’em Yago, tell ’em all.
Yago likes combos.
No, he’s not referring to the delicious cheese-stuffed pretzel snacks. He’s talking about throwing an air reverse and an alley-oop on the same wave.
