DEFECT: In Conversation | StabMic Ep. 33
Dane Reynolds, Hunter Martinez, and Jake Kelley watch DEFECT and offer up its secrets.
Order the sausage. Take a bite. Delicious, no? A little sauce, perhaps. Then the rest. You become satisfied. Digestion begins.
Soon, no matter how tasty, you begin to forget about the sausage. Perhaps it’s recalled in conversation, perhaps recommended to a friend should it swim back into consciousness. Mostly, though, it is consumed and recedes into experience.
Then, two weeks later, you happen upon the sausage chef at a pop-up, standing behind a table and explaining precisely how the sausage came to be.
You remember liking the sausage. So you sit down.
He spends the next hour showing you how it was made.
This, you enjoy very much.
This, you take with you for a very long time.
In Episode #33 of StabMic, Hunter Martinez, Dane Reynolds, and Jake Kelley sit down with Dooma to talk through the making of DEFECT.
We let the film run, and we let the boys talk to it. Stories of great value ensue: misadventures in an Indonesian corner named after the phallic appendage of one sailor-surfer, the music choices, the trips, and an additional clip of Dane running shirtless through a cemetery, narrated by Chris Hemsworth.
This is DEFECT, explained by the sausage chefs themselves.
For those keeping score, we missed a week. DEFECT was meant to be Episode #32, but music licensing issues threatened to consign it to the dustbin of digital history. Happily, the threat has passed, and DEFECT shall remain on the internet for eternity.
