“I’m what’s commonly known as a hater, but this looks fun af.”

A comment from the Stab membership beneath last year’s announcement for EAST Fest, hosted by Kona Big Wave.

And they were right. It was fun af.

To celebrate Mikey February’s 2025 series, we had our electric vision quest out in the desert, hosted at Palm Springs Surf Club. All your favourite surfers were there, with the possible exception of Russell Winter. He was busy. Such is the life of a swordsman.

Peep the full photo gallery here.

But, alas, the desert has been swarmed. The Kardashians are at Burning Man, brewing cactus in porcelain and gold-plated mugs. The old gods of the wilderness have been colonised by the rich and the beautiful.

So, if they’re taking the desert, it’s time for us to take back the city. This year, to premiere the finale of EAST starring Harry Bryant, we’re heading to New York City for a very hot 48 hours… or perhaps brisk if the autumn chill arrives early.

Starting Friday, October 2nd at Vans Skate Space 198 in Brooklyn, we’ll premiere Harry’s EAST finale with the help of Kona Big Wave. Then send the night off with a live, local music act that’s yet to be named.

The following day, Saturday, October 3rd, we’ll hit Rockaway Beach (swell dependent), where little old you can climb aboard the entire EAST quiver and decide for yourself whether its instrument or the musician that makes a surfboard sing.

Mason Ho, Mikey Feb and Harry himself will be there, as will Dooma Fahrenfort, so we’ll be recording a live version of StabMic with Harry and the winning shaper. You can even heckle them IRL, instead of the comment section.

Not from the area? Sitting on the other side of the world in Australia? Socially challenged? Rizz skills of a pre-verbal child?

Perhaps consider flying over.

If not for EAST, then to spend some time in NYC and talk to some people with your Australian drawl. Being average-looking, socially awkward and barely able to speak the English language has never worked so well as a mating strategy.

See you all there for a little soiree, shall we? Some finger food, a few cocktails in the form of Kona Big Waves? Sounds very classy. We’re all grown up.

See the finer details below.
