Watch: John Florence Commits 26 Counts Of Wave Slaughter In The First Degree

Like most thing’s with his name on them, John Florence’s surf porn is world class. Not one to starve his fan base of content, John’s output often takes the form of multi-part series such as Twelve or the more recent Vela. With that, he tends to sprinkle pure surf edits in every blue moon (too soon?) and boy are we grateful every time one graces our inbox.  People drop clips all the time, but casual edits thrown together from a handful of sessions that look like this are only able to be executed by a select few. Italo does it flawlessly, Josh Kerr, Asher Pacey, Matt Banting, and Yago also come to mind. With that, theres something special about seeing one of the world’s best competitive surfers flex their supreme powers on us mere mortals for the fun of it. And his surfing? He demolishes 26 waves with an impressive array of maneuvers, the highlight easily comes in the form of his frontside hacks. He’s put it on display at Margaret River time and time again, but these turns are downright vicious. We’re sure the new Dark Arts quiver he sports throughout the entirety of the clip has something to do with it, but really, look at these frame grabs and tell me this doesn’t just look different.  The man is literally past the point of merely sinking his rail and has just gone ahead and decided he has to sink the entirety of his 6’1 frame to get the necessary torque for his carve. Again, vicious.  Other things to note in this clip include John’s sporting of a Dakine rashie, indicating that Florence Marine X is still in the early stages of their product testing, and that Rocky Point’s been really good. Click in, this is the best 2 minute surf edit you will see this week.
