Jack Robinson Has So Much Pscyho Footage He’s Gonna Go Broke On Hard Drives

This year, for the first time in a decade, Jack Robinson has been home more than he’s been abroad. 

Fortuitously, this forced stasis occurred during the best time of year in Western Australia. 

The result? Jack got to surf the unreasonably consistent and appealing waves of his homeland for an extended period, and he filmed most of it. The clips are as abundant as they are exceptional. Poor guy’s gonna go broke on hard drives. 

Keep in mind that all of Jack’s clip aggregation is gearing toward a singular end: Snapt4. Jack is one of 15 or so surfers in contention for the film’s best part, which would net him a cool $40k. And here’s the kicker: he can only use three minutes of footage in his final edit. 

I talked to Snapt4 creator Logan Dulien about this. “It’s wild,” he said. “It feels so crazy to be putting some of these clips out in a B-sides edit, but then I remember the clips we have stacked for his actual part and they just wouldn’t make the cut. Honestly, with all the stuff Jack got this winter in WA, we could probably make five of these edits without cutting into his A-clips.”

Let that soak in for a moment, and tell me who on Laird’s blue earth has even the slightest chance of nabbing the $40k. The only one I could possibly see is Clay Marzo, if he’s got some real black magic voodoo shit up his sleeve.
