Stab Recommends: 10 Things from SurfStitch’s Black Friday Mega Sale

Black Friday sure sounds sinister.

Despite being wholly ignorant as to the origins of this gargantuan retail event (and too idle to find out) one thing we do know is that today’s good day to make a dent in whatever savings you’ve managed to scrape together this calendar year. Everything’s discounted on SurfStitch. Literally. And it’s one of the few occasions that you’ll be able to get your mitts on brands like Vans, Cons, Dickies etc for less than full-whack retail. We’ve put together a hurried curation (seriously, those racks go deep) of discounted things that piqued our interest, but we also highly recommend tumbling into your own wormhole.

Three Pack Perfection

Fitted socks are one of life’s great pleasures, and having multiple pairs on rotation only furthers the sensation. A three pack of tastefully contrasting Stussy feet-warmers mightn’t be the most glamorous item on sale on SS.com, but they could well prove the most rewarding.

Slip into a dream

Just a Well Cut Pair of Pants

It’s still bafflingly difficult in 2019 to find a pair of pants that fit just so. Too tight’s gone from being the hallmark of the fashion-forward to the greatest faux pas, and the crops have been ascending to absurd heights. These Depactus Calibrate pants are basically a perfect fit: straight, loose, and lightly kissing the laces.

A fit for all occasions.

Furry Shoes

Having a go-to pair of sneakers that you can wear through the dust is a must, and suede Cons One Stars are the perfect everyday shoe. Sleek silhouette, perfect texture and comfy. Like, Nike tech (Cons overlords) comfy.

An un-regrettable purchase.

Ditch the Stink

It’s depressing yanking a stinky, heinous towel out of the car every time you hit the drink, but it’s an easily avoidable funk. Slowtide towels come in handsome prints (looks nice, hides dirt) and they’re soft as hell. Time for an upgrade.

A much-needed upgrade.

Anything but The Face!

We’re all a lot more clued onto the UV thing that we used to be, but it’s disorganisation that catches us out. A couple of hours in the brine/beer garden without screen does the world of bad for the visage, so the trick is to outsmart yourself and hide tubes everywhere. Ella Baché’s the Veuve of sunscreen, and it’s on sale. Best grab a few.

Look after number one.

A Stylish Way to Hydrate

Useful stuff is rarely discounted. It makes sense—people buy it anyway. However, when quality everyday items get hit with a sale tag then it’s best to flash the plastic and worry about it later. Corkcicle bottles are things of practical beauty, and if you’re lacking a water carrier in your daily quiver then we couldn’t recommend one highly enough.

Look sophisticated whilst saving the planet.

A Rarely Practical Trend

Trends that blow in hard tend to be frivolous, but the return of the bucket hat is a rare exception. Channelling Ocean Colour Scene whilst keeping the sun off our beaks is enough for us to hitch our carts to the wagon, and this soft corduroy number from Fallen Broken Street is the perfect entry.

It all comes back around.

Useful Five Button

It’s easy to get stuck in a t-shirt rotation during summer, but it’s nice to have the option of something a little smarter when the opportunity for a couple of cocktails arises. If you reside somewhere warm then this breezy button up from Globe will smarten you up, cool you down and hide any perspiration simultaneously.

Smart summer.

Bells and Whistles Trunks

Tech and aesthetics needn’t be mutually exclusive. These M.A.S.H-green Hurley JJF sig trunks are a high-tech, no frills, and designed for surfing by the best surfer of his generation. And, most importantly 18 inches—aka: the ideal length.

Top of the line, handsome, on sale.

Year of the Hood, Continued

Whether you’re awaiting the caffeine kick on a frosty winter’s morning, or plotting slinking off from a backyard gathering on a cool summer eve, black hoodies are essential. T&C has been lovingly resurrected in Australia, and their range is pure stylish surf comfort, in particular the black hood with the iconic yin yang on the back.

Pearl City represent.
