Photolyfe: Charlie Cullen
Q&A from the lo-fi wifi of Northern Sumatra.
Welcome to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab’s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. Give thanks by studying each image with a more careful eye than ever!
Charlie Cullen eloped from life on mainland Australia a few years back. Originally hailing from Newcastle and now residing in Northern Sumatra. Cullen spent his last few years in Asia, Hawaii and some time on the slopes of Canada’s Whistler. Soon after he dropped the snowboard to pick up a set of fins. Last time we caught up with Charlie he was in transit, hustling through Kuala Lumpur airport and filled us in on a trip he recently took, deep into undisclosed jungle with Mikala Jones, Alex Smith and Luke Davis. While we wait for the photographic evidence of that journey, slide down and get further acquainted.
