And though our reply was ‘Of course,’ Duncan’s need for all photos to live and breath is understandable: “The main frame there is ok, but it’s how he fully rotated this one right around and landed in the flats. That’s what he is so good at.”

This is no secret, of course: Ryan has one of the most controlled backside air reverses in the biz. Growing up as a goofy with a home beach that’s primarily righthanders will do that to you.

Also no secret is Ryan’s highly affable character. “I’ve been hanging with Ryan a bit,” continues Dunc. “In fact, when I get the chance, I do. He is a busy guy on the QS and working on a section for Kai (Neville)’s film (Cluster). I know he’s had a couple of ok results on the QS but hasn’t really shot up into the high rankings yet, which Im surprised about, because in my opinion, he is one of the best and most well rounded people on the QS, and he would smoke people on the CT. Look at what he did to Dane in the Pipe Masters last year. Smoked! Dropped 9s and sent him packing. We will see though… Last I saw Ryan he showed me a couple of clips from around home that Kai took for Ryan’s section in Cluster, which were incredible. But it’s the clips Kai didn’t take from those clips blew me away. Some of them were enders in any other clip. But you know what? That’s the quality of Kai’s movie and if that’s anything to go off, Ryan’s gonna have a crazy section and it’s gonna be a incredible movie.”
