Going Below Sea Level With A Hawaiian Tube Harpoon
Jesse Johnson ain’t afraid of no reef!
If there was a god, Desert Point’s afternoon low tide would be her gift to surfing.
Is there a dreamier setting than the backlit Indonesian point, with water levels so low that fins practically scrape the reef as they course through a seamless tunnel?
Many surfers have left their mark on Deserts over the years (or more typically, its mark on them), but few have so fully embraced the moment like Jesse Johnson, above, who contorts himself into comical positions to fit in some of the smallest, but most perfect, tubes we’ve ever seen.
Once he completes the clown car routine, Jesse unveils his huevos with a couple Grower bombs then displays his agility with some impressive lippers. All things considered, the Hawaiian is talented to the point that we’re surprised we don’t know more about him.
Jesse, what’s up with that?
