Somebody Get This Gentleman A New Surfboard!

In the wild world of surf we get sent a lot of “clips”, from many ladies and gentlemen we’ve never heard of, and most of them aren’t worth posting.

A few days back, Braiden Maither sent us this short.

Earlier this morning, our friend dropped us a note saying something to the effect of, “Hey check out this dude, he’s ripping. He also just got his car and all his surfboards stolen.” 

And… He is ripping.

Mr. Maither knows his way around a tube, a straight air and alley-oop. He also has an absolute disdain for the air-revo. Make of that what you will.

We reached out to Braiden and asked him who the fuck he was?

Stab: Braiden, forgive me, but uh, who are you?
Braiden: I’m Braiden Maither but everyone calls me Braido. I’m from the Westside of Maui and like to hide out at any little Slabby Windy left that’s around here. Plenty of those, get to share ‘em with Clay Marzo by ourselves all the time.

Then, I teach surf lessons to keep the money coming in and try to travel off island whenever I get the chance. 

What’s the worst thing about surfing in 2018?
Everyone takes themselves too seriously. It’s just surfing. We ain’t changing the world. Everyone is so stuck into not talking about the lame stuff that’s being portrayed and shown in the surf world, so I thought I’d poke a little fun in this edit.

We heard you got all your surfboards stolen recently, what happened?
Ya man, my car got stolen two days ago for the second time in six months! Worst luck in the world on that part.

I’m moving at the moment, so all my boards were in the car. Crime’s been pretty bad on the island recently, lots of drug issues. I’m trying to find some boards at the moment so I can keep surfing [laughs].

So, you’re completely boardless?
Yup, boardless… Oh, last thing, tell everyone to stop doing air reverses! [Laughs]
