Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker at Sunset Reef in Cape Town, South Africa

We’re winding back exactly one week here, flexing on the 24-hour nature of Full Frames to bring you a shot we couldn’t let slip, taken last Saturday at Sunset Reef in Cape Town. This is Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker. Also in the water were a crew of big wave names like Greg Long, the Walsh brothers, Nic Vaughn, Ben Wilkinson, and locals Frank Solomon, Matt Bromley, Mike Schlebach and Andy Marr. Quite an eclectic team, yeah? Well, everyone was in town for the Big Wave World Tour event at Dungeons, which sadly never ran. The day started off pretty slow , but… “the long range 22 second WSW swell started to fill in round midday and if you could stand the long waits between sets, you were rewarded with a bomb,” says the photographer, Ant Fox. “The crew traded a few long walls and the occasional barrel til late arvo.”
