Peter Mel and a rolling hill, Mavericks (part I), CA

Yesterday, Mavericks looked like a Middle Earth horizon of rolling green hills. It was clean as Outkast and, whilst not the biggest Mavs gets, it was picturesque. A crew that included Peter Mel (pictured here), Ken ‘Skindog’ Collins, Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker, Shawn Dollar and more were all over it. Pete won last year’s Mavericks Invitational, which it’s just been announced will fire up this friday for its 2014 instalment, and he’ll be front and centre. Kelly Slater’s also an alternate this year, despite being a slot last year and pulling out last minute for fear of penalty from the ASP (competing in non-ASP events can mean points penalties). But anyhow… here’s some concise words from our photographer on this occasion, Ryan ‘Chachi’ Craig: “Peter Mel is the man. Always good for a laugh and guaranteed to get a few bombs every session.
