See, Pipeline ain’t always terrifyingly beautiful. Sometimes it’s feeling lazy. Sometimes it’s playful. The day you see pictured here, the world’s most photographed reef was sprinkled by an unremarkable north swell and east wind, which made for some nice ramps – not exactly what springs to mind when one thinks of The Banzai Pipeline. Mitch Coleborn, who’s on the cusp of qualifying and got to Oahu early to get in the zone, was all over it and hucked plenty of these spins (and then some). Expect to see Mitch tuning up at the Reef Hawaiian Pro, Haleiwa tomorrow…
