The bodies of Callum Robinson, Jake Robinson, and Jack Rhoad — 3 friends who were on a surf trip in Baja and who were reported missing days ago — were found today near where they were camping.

You can read our backstory of the incident here.

No information has yet been released as to cause of death, motive for the kidnappers, or who is directly responsible.

We do know that Callum and Jake Robinson are brothers from Perth, Australia and that they met up for the surf trip with their friend Jack Rhoad, from San Diego. The trio were surfing and camping south of Ensenada in the town of Punta San Jose and surfing the familiar wave “Lighthouse”. They had posted numerous Instagram stories of their trip and had been communicating with friends and family until communication ceased on April 27th, according to their mother.

Yesterday, their truck was found abandoned and burned and blood and teeth were found near where they were camping.

And today, Mexican Authorities released the news that all three bodies were found near where they disappeared several days ago and three suspects were arrested, one of whom was carrying one of the victims’ cell phones and a bag of methamphetamine.

Baja California has been especially dangerous as of late, with heavy cartel activity as well as smalltime gang/drug violence making the area extra volatile. The nearby border city of Tijuana is now considered the deadliest city in Mexico and even the deadliest city in the world depending on where you consult — with 105 homicides per 100,000 according to this survey.

Stab’s thoughts and condolences go out to these surfers’ families and friends.
